If you are the main insurance company user, your User Name is the same as your NAIC number. If you are an insurance company sub-user, your User Name is the same as your email address.

I have forgotten my password. How do I reset it?
You can reset your password by selecting the Forgot Password link located on the log in screen of the ILIVS website. After selecting this link you must provide the answer to the secret question. A temporary password will be sent to the functional contact for the account by answering the question correctly.

Is the web site password totally independent of the FTP account credentials?
Yes, they are independent.

We represent three NAIC codes. Can we report all three companies in one Book of Business file or should we send three separate files?
You must submit one Book of Business file per NAIC number.

How do I change my web account password?
Login to the www.ILIVS.com website using your username and password, Select 'Account Information' in the top menu, Check the 'Do you want to update your password?' check box and follow the steps. If you have previously submitted a secret question and answer, then the answer will be needed to modify the password.

What if a vehicle owner received an ILIVS notice and has insurance?
If the vehicle owner has insurance, they will need to contact their insurance company or agent. The insurance company or agent will then need to electronically transmit the insurance information using the ILIVS website. The customer must provide the reference number at the top of the notice in order to submit the insurance information.

What if a vehicle owner received an ILIVS notice and the vehicle is stored or inoperable?
If the vehicle is STORED or INOPERABLE, the vehicle owner can electronically submit the information to ILIVS using the www.ILIVS.com website and the reference number at the top of this notice. They will be required to fill out an electronic affidavit along with their electronic signature. The vehicle owner must notify the insurance company or SOS prior to driving this vehicle on the Illinois roadways.

What if a vehicle owner received an ILIVS notice and the customer’s vehicle has been sold?
If the vehicle is SOLD, the vehicle owner may surrender their license plate at any SOS Driver Services facility.

What happens if the vehicle owner does not respond to the ILIVS notice?
If the vehicle owner fails to comply with this notice by the Due Date, the registration will be suspended and the vehicle owner will be charged $100.00 to reinstate registration privileges. Your vehicle cannot be driven by anyone while its license plates are suspended. The minimum fine for driving a suspended vehicle is $1,000.

What if the vehicle owner no longer possess vehicle license plates but are still registered to them?
The vehicle owner may then revoke their registration. To revoke the registration, the vehicle owner will need to complete a VEHICLE LICENSE PLATE REVOCATION REQUEST FORM and mail the form to the listed address so that SOS office may complete the revocation. Click here to download the form.

What is an insurance company sub-user?
An insurance company sub-user is an additional user that can be added by the main insurance company user to submit insurance for a customer who has received an ILIVS notice. This functionality is more commonly used by insurance companies in the call center customer support capacity. Insurance company agents can register separately. The sub-user can report for any insurance company under the insurance group. To create a sub-user account, the main insurance company user must login to their www.ILIVS.com account. A separate sub-user account should be created for each sub-user.

How can the vehicle owner pay the fee for not maintaining insurance?
The fee can be paid online through the ILIVS website. The 'MAKE PAYMENT' button will appear once current compliance information has been provided.

How many notices will the vehicle owner receive?
The vehicle owner will only receive one notice. There will be no clearance notice sent. The agent/company or vehicle owner can verify their status through the ILIVS website
